With the quantity diseases that could be contracted, the skin disorder acne is quite common. Like many of the other common diseases, adult and teen acne can have a variety of casues.

Our bodies can succumb to any number of diseases in our lifetime. Some of these illnesses can be external and others are internal. Since modern medicine has improved through the years, some of these diseases have been eliminated while many others continue to be studied for a cure to be found.

A skin disorder is an example of something that can happen internally in a person. This is because it affects the skin’s oil glands. If people are not able to wash properly and germs stick to the pores, pimples develop.

Pimples on the forehead, face, scalp or back can just be a phase or it can be a persistent issue. It can sometimes lead to acne and very often does for teens. A recent study has concluded that it can also return after reaching adulthood.

The same study shows more than 17 million Americans have this skin disorder. However, the good news is that most of the acne problems will disappear by the time the individual reaches the age of 30. 1. Females reaching puberty are very susceptible to oily skin because their oil glands clog more frequently. This can be from sports and other activities, but correctible.

2. When a woman is pregnant, some changes physical changes in her body can also cause pimple outbreaks and cause acne.

3. Those taking birth control medicine can experience acne problems after changing from one brand of birth pills to another. Certain medicines aside from these contraceptives may also be the reason that this is happening to the individual.

4. Some studies suggest that acne is heredity. If either or both of the parents have ever experienced acne problems, there is a very big chance this will also happen to their children.

5. Eating spicy foods or other ingredients, which the person is sensitive to, may cause acne.

6. Oil based beauty products, especially for those who have delicate skin, can cause acne outbreaks.

7. The environment can also play a factor in causing this skin disorder especially if the person lives in a polluted environment and has to face the smoke from vehicles and factories everyday.

Acne is a skin disorder that can be treated even if there are many causes. The products available vary greatly. Some acne treatment products include those derived form natural ingredients, water based beauty products, medication and surgery for help getting rid of the skin disorder.

It is always best to consult with a dermatologist before entering into any form of treatment. A dermatologist can help determine the actual causes and provide a clearer and safer treatment program.

The doctor can only recommend proper treatment after conducting some tests. When medication has been prescribed, the individual has to be patient because this usually takes two to three months to see the results.

It should be noted that once scarring has begun acne scarring treatment is much more difficult to resolve. You will be much happier if you treat acne early as this is the best, if not only, way to prevent acne scarring.

Once the acne problem has been cleared up, you should begin a quality maintenance and prevention program to keep the acne at bay. Skin care maintenance for adult acne can be as simple as using a good cleansing soap and or lotion daily. Because this type of prevention can keep acne from returning, you should not over look is importance after the causes of acne have been resolved.
