Citizens For Animal Protection, or CAP, is a wonderful organization. CAP is a not for profit organization working for the benefit of injured and abandoned animals. The following message is directly from an advertisement by Citizens For Animal Protection.
As people begin to feel the effects of the economy, many are realizing that they can no longer afford to kep their pets. This translates into more pets being abandoned or turned into our shelter. Every contribution is critical to CAP's operation which provides food, medical attention and loving quality care for more than 12,000 animals each year.
Animals who have been abandoned and injured by humans often have the most difficult time recuperating. Tending to their physical condition is just the first step in the process of healing. The staff and volunteers at CAP try to give an animal a second chance regardless of personal sacrifice. One such dog was Tank, a Mastiff mix) who was found tied up to our shelter door. He was 40 pounds underweight, had heartworms, his ears had been cut off, in addition to numerous wounds to his body and spirit.
We knew that tis &slquot;gentle giant&srquot; had special needs, but we never thought it would take a full year to enable him to beready for adoption. Initially, Tank was afraid ofmany humans and especially afraid of the dark. His suffering must have been enermous. Trips in the car, runs in the park, overnight stays at selected foster homes and extra attention from our staff finally readied Tank for a permanent home. At his new adoptive home Tank has found love and the joy of romping with his new &lsquot;brother&rsquot;, Blackjack also adopted from CAP). Tank is now far removed from his fears of the past. Many thanks to those whose gifts of time and money made Tank's rehabilitation possible.
One of our longtime volunteers heard a kitty crying somewhere in the walls of the garage of her office building. Frustrated that she could not seem to locate the animal, she enlisted the aid of a CAP staff member and the building custodian. They made an opening in the wall and enticed this precious kitty out of his entrapment. He was rushed to our shelter for much needed hydration and food, and CAP staff immediately named him Wally. Several days later two more kittens were rescued! How they became wedged in the wall is a mystery, but they are lucky that CAP was there and able to save them!
Please consider a generous gift for our orphaned pets like Tank and Wally this holiday season. For just $180 you can sponsor an animal while it is in our care. However, a goft of any size is always appreciated!
P.S. With your gidt to CAP, you can honor your beloved pet or human friend for the holidays. We will notify whomever you designate of your thoughtfulness.Thank you for caring.
